Jail-home

We are getting close to our middle-class dream: a Swedish guy came over yesterday and installed cable TV and broadband. I'm watching Sally Jessy Raphael and feeling like a citizen of the world. The name of the show is "Pregnant Mistresses Tell All!" I'm having trouble concentrating on writing on my journal. Sally's face looks like a rubber mask. The images are digital and crisp; I no longer have to stand up all the time to fix the TV aerial.

My excuses to leave the house dimish by the day: endless hours of cable TV, unemployment, a cold spell, many books still to be read and a dead telephone that never invites me out. I found a leaflet in the library about a short story competition. I have to write about "London's secrets".

We can listen to the radio on our TV aswell. I'm back to BBC 6 Music, my favourite radio station. I wish I had a digital camera; you need to see the little den we have built, where we sit all day watching TV or playing videogames. My throat is dry and I have a peppermint tea waiting for me in the kitchen. The song playing on BBC 6 Music is very mellow, I'm melting into the sofa. It's a band called Idiot Sun. I've never heard them before, and I probably never will again. What I do need is Tony Robbins sitting by my side and more Roseanne on the screen.

I think Livejournal's tentacles are slowly coming off me.

What a relief.
