On November 11, 2004. The cinema will close unless certain elements concerning finance can be resolved in the next few weeks. IN THE MEANTIME, the staff of the cinema is trying to raise public awareness and interest in one of the last venues with the courage to screen independent cinema in London, and are hoping to increase our normal ticket sales during the period to show that there is a genuine interest in this kind of programming. We are hoping to show the UK Film Council and other relevant bodies that we are worth investing in, and trying to rally support for one of the only outlets for young filmmakers, documentaries, and alternative programming in the West End. Please stop by and see a film or two this week and next, as many as you can, and sign our petition to the Arts Council and the UK Film Council. Please tell your friends, acquaintances, neighbours, and random people in the street to do the same. We are on 11 Rupert St. near Piccadilly Circus. We are currently screening Princesa, Radio On, and The Big Kahuna. Coffee and Cigarettes opens on Friday 22 October. Thanks for your support in this last gasp effort.
