Hurk, Meat Hill: Part 1, 2007
New Hurkulaneum is a city much like London, with a disastrous underground system that has plenty of weirdly-named stations (Meat Hill must be this parallel world's version of Notting Hill), cafes that always run out of custard and TV addicts that feel the need to complain for every swear word heard before the watershed hour. Unlike London, New Hurkulaneum has a group of superheroes, the BHE (Best Humans Ever), who are one-by-one being murdered by an evil mastermind called Leader and his freaky henchmen. Some of the BHE deal with this conflict by returning to temp work; others form a jazz band called The Bestever Septet.
Meat Hill reads like a Ren & Stimpy episode doused with extra-strong R-rated acid, with a humor that all Londoners will recognise as their own. Some of the pannels are so funny - so classic - that they are begging to be scanned and turned into icons. This is the first part of a trilogy, and it's limited edition.
