I just came from the secretary's office, where I caught the following exchange:

Secretary: you are sending me doodle!
Lecturer: I'm not sending you anywhere, I think you are already there.
Secretary: do you want a clonk?

hehe... me too... i think mod boys were the best... it's sad that nobody dresses like that anymore (or almost no boys.) I've had some good nights going out in suits. I think here in London there's a good scene for that.

I know...and people don't wear enough hats...nothing finishes off a suit like a good hat...and I am not talking baseball hats here :P

baseball hats should be banned! a good hat for a man is very very very hard to find...

is there anything like a Mod scene in your city?

bwhahahahahahaha I wish! we used to have like a mod soul night which was really fun but I am not sure they have it anymore, and there certainly weren't any mods in attendance..there was a handful of emo kids that seemed to think they were mod...lol

our city is pretty dead for most scenes unless you are a hardcore kid....(especially a christian hard core kid)

that would be great! acutally I saw a poster for this cool mod thing happening, it was like ska versus mod and some out of town bands are playing..but! I have a wedding to go to :( so I can't go! and I am pissed, I have a really cool dress I could wear that would show up all of those silly emo kids!

ha ha..oh dear....well I could maybe go after the wedding, I will just have to see how it all works out..and yeah I don't think you have emo kids there, it's like these skinny kids that wear thrift store t shirts, and dye their hair black, and whine a lot...heh

oh, and listen to Travis? I think they were packed up and shipped out of London a while ago... the cool thing about here is that there is no sort of "purity" in terms of style (like Goth, or Skin, or Emo)... people kinda mix and match to fit who they are (i think)...

I don't know where i stand... i think i'm too selfconscious to say I'm this or that... but I definetly would not be caught dead in a thrift store t-shirt (unless it was a very very good one.)

bwhahahah..well at least you got rid of them!

really? I am surprised by that because it seems like there are some people there with some serious sticks up their butt about who should be wearing what, and mod revivalists and etc.

I call myself a skinhead, but I am really more like a skinhead, punk, mod mix...my friend told me the other day I dress like a grown up punk rocker...that made me laugh!! :)

well, maybe you are right... there are people in Camden Town (this area of London) who fit the Emo, or Goth or Punk look. But, to me, what counts is if the person really believes in it, if it means more to them than just fitting in with their friends. Maybe when your friend called you a grown up punk, she meant that you are in it because you believe in it as a way of life, because that's who you are, as an adult.
I think that's great...
:]

I think that's right on the mark! I have been listening to punk, and dressing punk or skin (although there have been a few different incarnations of that :P) since I was 13, and I can't really see my style or my sense of myself ever changing, I have toned it down slightly, but it hasnt' affected the way I think or feel about myself or the world.

I think I am going to put you on my list of special people...tell me if you feel uncomfortable with that
