5 years ago tomorrow

Tomorrow marks 5 years since I started "dating" Kevin.

Can't believe 5 years ago we were taking those special steps towards the cinema, to watch Bride of Chucky. Then he came over to my apartment afterwards and I gave him a mug of orange juice (it was either that, water, or milk.) We listened to some Classical Chinese music (because I had just returned from Tsing Tao, where my dad and brother were living at the time) and I lit up some Beewax candles (which Helen gave to me on my birthday.)

I lived in Montreal, on Cote-des Neiges. Very near Concordia University.

I miss Canada. If Kevin doesn't propose soon, would any Canadians be willing to marry me?

(also, happy anniversary to [livejournal.com profile] dilvalicious. 4 years ago, today, she was going on a special date to Fight Club)

Right now I'm look into Comparative Literature, French or Political Theory -- or something in-between those. Right now I'm studying 'Social thought and political economy' and 'French studies'...

I've been to Québec city, but never to Montréal... seems like I need myself up there and check it out...

oh definetly... it's a beautiful city, and the people are gorgeous too... it has the 4 seasons played out, a very strong arts and literature nightlife... tons of little things happening all the time.

Do you speak and write French well? You could either try McGill (which is an Anglo university) or Universite du Montreal... I studied in the Liberal Arts College in Concordia University, which was very good too. It's a degree called "History and Culture of Western Society" which takes in politics, literature, religion, art, philosophy... and they encourage you to do a second degree... which you could then fit in French Studies.

I'm basically fluent (thanks to my French boyfriend who spoke no English) and I will be writing my undergraduate thesis in French, so once that's done my writing should be perfected :)

excellent! i took an intensive course in Montreal for 6 months... i can read well, and understand too... but my speaking is rusty. It's a shame really, i must find some courses and get back into it.

I'm reading right now a book by Michel Tremblay, a popular gay writer from Montreal. You should check him out. All his novels are set in Montreal and they really pass on the feeling of the city.

anyone really... except his shortstory collection... forget the name now.

La Nuit des Princes Charmantes is good.
