I had to take a document across the building to get it signed. I reach the office and as I open the door I notice that everyone is pressed against the windows. My jaw falls down: thousands of people crossing Waterloo Bridge, shouting, whistling, protesting. What an awesome sight.

I wish I had taken the day off.

Then I come back downstairs and cross a woman crying, holding a mobile fun. She runs to the ladies room, sobbing.

wow that's so exciting!!! I knew England would rise to the occasion, that's one thing I really admire about England their ability and willingness to protest

i wonder if the full extent of the protest will be shown in America... that would be great.

I highly dout it, I am sure Canada will do a better job though

Go Canada! Have there been protests there?

not that I have seen about this trip, Canada is a bit apathetic sometimes and it annoys me

but, then again, Bush hasn't been there.

Blair! Argh! It pisses me off that he just followed Bush blindly.

well I think he expected the world to follow right after, I think it may have been quite shocking that Canada refused to follow into this war.

When I look at everythign the christians did to people i don't find it shocking that another religion is doing the same thing....just in a different era

Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
yeah... whenever I meet a very religious person, I'm always creeped out by them. No matter how much they try to talk about love, their prejudices always shine through.

I know, I hate all this religion....

as soon as you try to organize something as individual as spirituality, you know you are in trouble.

on 2003-11-20 09:11 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com
I like that...that's an excellent point

I basically disagree with all organized religion especially christianity

on 2003-11-20 09:16 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
me too... they are so hypocritical. How can they sit there and say that they are all about love, when a lot of Christians spend their time hating others?

The only religion I know which seems to be ok is Buddhism. I've never heard of a buddhist terrorist or a buddhist killing someone from another religion. Buddhism seems to be about personal development, and discovering your interior spirituality, as opposed to other religions which rely on written texts, saviours and strict rules.

yes, I agree it's like a life style, not a religion. There is no rathfilled vengence if you fuck up....as far as I know anyway, I have thought about exploring buddhism, but I am not even sure where to start really...

hey Michelle!! I tried callng but it didn't work... first time they asked me to try some other number... so I figured I would call the number you gave me as a long distance number... but then it was for Credit Union in America. And there was no talk about extension numbers...

I'm almost ready to go to bed... we are listening to the Make Out mix.

:o)

hope your day is going well...

awww cute...hmmmm that's weird

I will have to look into it, maybe I will just have to call you! I wonder how much that would cost

see yeah I don't know if 877 numbers work internationally

I am sad now :(

yay make out mix!

i don't know it's just a feeling that I have...everything is making me angry. I am just really glad it's friday....

I think it's my job, alot of things about it are just annoying lately...all of the things I didn't care about before, seem to be getting on my nerves big time...I dont' know it really made me mad the other day that I booked an appointment for someone and they didn't agree with it, and instead of talking to me about it, they went over my head and talked to my manger, when I told him the situation he agreed with me but it pissed me off

also they have a pink panther box set with a cover done by shag, which I would kill for but it's only available in the uk, and in the region 2 format...I love Peter Sellars and it's not fair!

on 2003-11-21 08:54 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
can't you get a DVD that plays all regions?

I love that Peter Sellars movie, "The Party"... reminds me of my childhood.

I know what you mean about being angry with work... I'm quitting after all! But I'm quitting because I've been here for too long and I just need a change of scenery. Also, I want to go home for a good month.

It's friday, and let's have a good weekend so we can return rested.

well I am not sure i searched the internet for it, and all I found was the uk version, I mean it's okie if you have a dvd player that plays all regions, but the only thing is it also said it was Pal format which I understand will not play even if you have an all region dvd player...

I grew up on the pink panther movies

on 2003-11-21 09:07 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
really? I think it should be fine, because my housemate, for example, has an all region DVD and we can play movies from England, from China...

on 2003-11-21 09:12 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com
hmmmmm....well then! I wonder who I know I live in England that would be willing to help me out then ;)

on 2003-11-21 09:14 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
hehe... I'll keep my eyes open! What's the DVD you are looking for? Also, ask around (just to be sure) about DVDs from here playing over there -- because I'm not sure about this.

okie it's a pink panther 6 dvd box set, it should be about 50 pounds or so. It's on amazon uk, if you want to see what the cover looks like...it has to be the six dvd set though...if you can find it for me I will paypal you the money...but yeah you have to make sure that it's not the Pal format because even if we have an all region dvd player, we can't play those...personally I think that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard but hey who am I to say

the only shitty thing is that one of the movies is missing because it's licensed by universal it is mgm that's putting out the set...So now I have to try and hunt down that one movie to make the whole thing complete...

but it's still worth it

on 2003-11-21 09:21 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
i'm surprised they don't have it over there! I would be much cheaper for you to buy it over there... 50 pounds is like 150 canadian!

I know, I mean I guess I could wait and see if it comes here, but I want the shag package dammit, and a lot of times things are packaged differently when they come over here...roar!

I guess I will sound stupid by asking this question but I haven't heard much of a protest on the news.. I suppose I should start tuning into BBC America and watch the news there instead of the local channels. But is this protest due to the presidents visit?

yes... and to other things, such as America's stance on the Kyoto agreement, or America not wanting to help create an International Law Court.

Erm, not that I know of. If they did, I don't think it was huge news, but that's our mass media for you. :-|
