on 2003-12-18 01:42 am (UTC)I think Oliver Sieber, who took the photos of Markus and Ziad, is a bit of a profiler: his work is about documenting the mod and skinhead scene in Germany and Austria. Some of the photos in his collection are mesmerizing, you can't tell if the person is a man or a woman. They have a glazed look, a jaded look -- which is a bit unerving. It's almost as if they weren't human, but only style! Or as if they were dead... they have that sense of ageness, I think.
As for the other photographer, I love his documenting of the rockabilly and hell's angels in Switzerland... i like the narrativity of his photos, as if they are telling these very intricate stories (fiction) --- but which actually happened!
Once I get the books, I'll try scanning more photos.
