oh okie...I will tell you how I finally stopped hating the smiths....for the longest time I had this thing against them because I was like oh they are just for sissies...(looks down) but then I heard this remix of there is a light that never goes out on the college station. I can't even remember who this remix is buy...but I was mezmorized, I was driving, and it was at night, I remember the exact spot. And I was like this is the most amazing song. And when I found out it was a remix of a smiths song, i was shocked, but then I bought the best of cd, and I was like in love. and since that day I have loved them....
It's very similar to me. I never knew of them but when I was 18 I saw their video for This Charming Man... I thought he looked ridiculous, and they sounded kinda off. I forgot about them.
Then a year later Morrissey came out with a solo song called "Tomorrow" and I fell madly in love with it. I bought his cd and decided to investigate The Smiths again. So I bought the Best of, and when I heard "There is a Light that Never Goes Out" I remembered hearing it when I was 10 years old!!! It was as if I had rediscovered a part of my childhood that I had forgotten... then I connected with the lyrics -- and the rest is history.
that's awesome....I really would have to say there is a llight that never goes out, is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard, I love it so much....it's just perfect
The Boy With the Thorn in His Side also moves me a lot... actually, there's only 2 or 3 songs of theirs --- out of all of them - that I'm not particularly keen.
But I know that dislexia, for example, where someone can't spell doesn't necessarily reflect their intelligence - it's just a lack of ability to process language, but the person can still be a genius!
