I went to see Dogville last night. I would like to talk to someone about this movie - so if there is anyone who has seen this movie, leave a comment so we can discuss it.
Heya....i've seen that movie a few weeks ago, and i've also recommended it to some friends whom i swap dvds with. well, the first time i watched it, it was at about 3 in the morning, so, i couldn't make any sense out of it, so i turned it off. But, i tried to watch it again the next day, and i found it really fresh....something different. It feels like watching a play, and all of the characters are played really well. And my favourite scene is definitely the ending.....hehehe....well, yeah...i'd love to discuss on it more with u.....:)
You know... i almost puked when I saw that movie! Not because of the violence... but because of the reaction of the audience. When Grace begins her revenge, the people in the audience laughed and enjoyed her sadism - it was as if the people in the audience had become the people from the village!!! I think the director did that on purpouse, he wanted to show that everyone was like the people in that village, including us who are watching.
To me, the movie was about the second coming of Christ - Grace is Jesus, willing to work and to love - but everyone destroys her and betrays her. When she carries that weight around, it was like her cross... and her father was god, with his avenging angels, coming to rescue her from Dogville.

Dog, backwards, is God.
The name of the Dog was Moses...
