dotintheskyShe lay in the hot tub with Dave, naked. Not too far away, in San Diego's bay, the warships were gathering the soldiers for Iraq. The steam rose in the humid air. She heard the stalker in the gym next door. He was peering at them again through the tall glass windows.
Dave slid over and circled her body.
"When's hubby coming home?" he asked. "Sweet Hubby?"
She slapped his face. He laughed.
"You know I didn't mean it," he said, pulling her naked body to his. The stalker had stopped what he was doing. He stared at them like a bad painting, whose eyes you can't get away from. She swore she'd buy a gun one of these days. Teach him a lesson if he came near her. She'd already tried running her car over him the last week. Still, he wouldn't give up. He followed her everywhere.
"Dave, that guy is watching us," she whispered in his ears. He looked up and saw the man.
"I'll go talk to him." He pulled himself out of the hot tub and crossed the lawn. He didn't care that all the apartments in the condo peered down at his naked body. He did a John Wayne walk which reminded her of Texas.
The stalker didn't run away. He was petrified, but defiant. Dave slid the glass door and walked into the gym. They started arguing. When Dave grabbed the stalker, their bodies began to shake.
Dave was swallowing the stalker, sucking his body into his. A pile of clothes lay on the floor where the stalker had been standing. Once the stalker was gone, Dave skipped back to her side.
She heard the front door open and her husband come in. Jason spotted them in the hot tub.
"Hi Dave," Jason said. "Can I join you guys?"
"Sure," Dave said. "But let's go upstairs."
She climbed out of the hot tub, aided by their arms. Like three children holding hands, they walked upstairs to the main bedroom. While she lay on the bed, Jason began to take off his clothes. Dave watched her, his body brown like caramel. She loved the way he smiled at her. Finally, once Jason's clothes were scattered on the floor, he touched Dave. Their hands disappeared inside each other. They shook and moaned. She couldn't wait for it to be over. They came together, melting and melding. The new shape that appeared had something of their old selves, but more of something new - better. The new man leaned down and kissed her lips. Problem solved.
