Sissy Jennifer brought that guy back home last night. Kevin and I were worried sick about her; she hadn't returned by 1.30 A.M. from her office's Christmas party and she didn't have a mobile phone on her. Around 2 A.M., we heard them come in. They slammed doors, stomped around the apartment, and eventually settled into her bedroom. My bed is against the wall that separates our bedroom, so I could hear them talking and giggling for the next hour - comments of his interspered with "No! Really?" from her, followed by girly giggles.

Kevin made the brilliant observation that we'll need earplugs if Jennifer and Dan-the-jeans-borrower become an item. He is 22 years old and she is 31.

The alarm clock rang at 7.30 A.M. I turned on the stereo and put on The Trashcan Sinatra's Weightlifting, which must be one of the best albums to hear in the morning when you are still half-asleep.

Later, when I was having breakfast, Jennifer walked into our bedroom and asked Kevin if Dan could borrow a t-shirt. Kevin handed over a Belle-Rendezvous promo t-shirt he won from Gosh Comics - black with neon orange letterings. Bless his heart! No prizes for guessing Dan declined to borrow it. Sometimes, I wish I was as smart as Kevin.

Dan thanked me for lending him the pair of jeans. He left it by my bed, inside a plastic bag. Gonna have a good sniff at it when I get home tonight.

In a year, Alan will be 31 and I will be 22.

Of the men you know who are your age, do you think they are as mature as you?

I know what you're getting at and I don't disagree. I was just pointing out that age differences don't really matter, and I'm sure she can make up her own mind about whether or not he's mature enough for her.

True... but he looked so young this morning!

Did you decide to abstain from the poll?

I find it difficult to make judgments about "romantic" relationships because my own marriage is so far from being romantic and the way we got together was so unusual. The difference between friendship and "romantic relationship" is sort of nonexistent with us. There just wasn't an option that I agreed with, I guess.

I told Jennifer tonight about the poll and she almost pissed her pants laughing. :)

Well... I'm sure there's a saying somewhere that cute office men should succumb to luscious blondes.

I can't believe there's another Trashcan Sinatras fan out there! I have loved them for over a decade now. I just got the new album, but haven't heard the whole thing yet. I'm glad it was easy to find here, because A Happy Pocket was so elusive (and terribly expensive on the rare ocassions I came across it). Do these guys ever tour???

You must befriend [livejournal.com profile] sneerpout then! She's not only an awesome person & an interesting journalist but also a HUGE Trashcan Sinatras fan. ;)

I've loved them since their first album... but sadly never bought the follow ups. I heard "weightlifting" from a compilation and just fell in love with the song... so decided to invest in the album... it's a grower. It's simple but with some lovely lyrics and some melodies that dig into your brains.

My favorite album of theirs is I've Seen Everything, their second one. It's so beautiful, you should really get it!

Ah! That's the one I have... Heyfever is one of my favourite songs! I didn't realize they had an album before that one.

Yes, Cake. Not as charming as the second, but very, very good. "Obscurity Knocks" and "Only Tongue Can Tell" are probably the strongest tracks.

I'm going on a second-hand cd shops hunt soon, so I'll keep an eye out. ;)
