Call Me By Your Name

The best film of 2018 is, hands down, Call Me By Your Name, and if the Oscars were truly about recognising art, and not marketing campaigns, or Hollywood's current mood, it would have walked away with all the major awards.

They’ve done something sweet with the novel’s audio version: Armie Hammer, who plays Oliver, narrates it. It’s a gorgeous, rewarding listen.

Why didn’t they pick Timothée Chalamet, who plays Elio, to tell his own story? I like to think Elio wanted to hear Oliver tell his story, just as he also wanted Oliver to call him by his own name…

i'm really annoyed it didn't get best picture. it or three billboards deserved that accolade far more than the shape of water.

The Shape of Water is a B-movie! I have no idea why people are calling it a work of art - it's baffling.

del toro is an artistic genius, but at the end of the day, this one is no more or less exceptional than any of his other works... and not comparable to the nominees in the best picture category.

It's one of his lesser works, in my opinion.

Good. Otherwise I'd have to hunt you down at the Kylie concert and give you a wedgie.

There's gonna be a film sequel, apparently.

Good! :-D

I heard the director is going to interpret what he thinks happened to some of the characters after the story ended. A sort of arty slash fiction?
