My get-rich-quick schemes aren't working. I bought lottery tickets with the numbers [livejournal.com profile] stephmog gave me, but I barely got a number in the results. Kevin and the Sissys humoured me instead of calling out my job-avoiding tactics for what they really are. But what can I do when the temp agency doesn`t have any work and going through the job section in the papers is too much effort?

I took a walk to Paddington`s HSBC branch to collect my new bank card. On the way back, I stopped by the station`s WH Smith to look through the best-sellers. I wanted to read their first paragraphs and see what was the secret of their success. Later, I found a tiny booth selling cappuccinos for 1.50, so I bought a cup and a cherry flapjack. I don`t have a suit for a job interview, and I don`t want a job that will make me wear a suit.

We are going tonight to the Kaiser Chiefs` concert. I expect to see [livejournal.com profile] dawnkitten in the front row, trying to pull their trousers off. One of the Sissys doesn`t want to go so I've texted Reco about the spare ticket. Reco is a friend from Brasil who is in London for three months, taking intensive English courses. I promised to invite him to as many gigs as possible since he hardly has a chance to see these bands in Brasil. We've already hung out once, last Saturday, in our local pub. He seems to have adapted nicely to London in the two weeks he`s been here.

I have no idea how to describe flapjacks really, apart from that they're crunchy and chocolatey, but I can tell you that they're amazingly delicious and that the recipe must have been sent from heaven...*g* and CHERRY flapjacks...? kljkldjflkdasfjkdsañflsadf.

whooo....

is it a candybar? man, I swear Cadbury makes such yummy chocolate! loads better than hershey. not even the same category.

Ehm...it's shaped like a brownie or something, it's small and rectangular usually, but once on a plane I got a circular one (wtf). I never thought I'd struggle so much to describe a flapjack omg.

OMG, I love Cadbury sososo much! Hershey isn't even a patch on Cadbury, I don't know why so many people love them...

Me neither. Hershey's chocolate is fake tasting, especially next to Cadbury, which is so rich and creamy.

I'm disgusted with my oohing and aahing over candybars. But...have you tried Cafe Tasse? I once, a million years ago, had their dark chocolate espresso bar and it's been like the Holy Grail ever since. I absolutely cannot find this brand!

It is, I don't like it at all! Cadbury all the way, sometimes Galaxy is okay but I get sick of that after a while.

OMG, I'm also very disgusted - oohing and aahing AND spamming teh Ollie. *apologises profusely since this isn't the first time* I've never tried that! I'll have a look around here to see if I can find it and let you know! xD

I need money too, omg. I have hardly any for my trip to Florence - if I don't find a job over there I'll be spending three months doing nothing because most of the places I want to go have a small entrance fee - above all the Boboli Gardens...*is dying to see them again*

The younger sister of my pregnant friend wants to come to the UK for English lessons. There's only so many bad words I can teach her.

HAW! - I love it!

"My get-rich-quick schemes aren't working. I bought lottery tickets with the .... But what can I do when the temp agency doesn't have any work and going through the job section in the papers is too much effort?"

I've been out of work for a long time. I've experienced a quite a few days thinking like that... Well at least you bought Lottery tickets - I just got cigarettes. I figure the casino has much better odds but then I get too lazy to, let alone learn to play well. ;)

How come you have been out of work for so long? No desire to work, or another reason? Buying the lottery ticket is always a mix bag for me. I begin to fantasize about becoming rich, but what happens is that I`m setting myself up for losing a pound and getting disappointed when the results come out. Would be much happier if I could find a job that I love.

Loss of the Will to Work! ;)

No desire has played heavily into the mix. I've been shooting a bit high too -- Apply for jobs that might as well be Lotto Tickets.

But also, when i lost- left my job it was not a good time. I was treated unfairly for one. I'll spare you the details. But the company was passive aggressive, one manager was abusive, physically and sexually to some. They wanted me to work under him after he literally dragged me out of my office and tried to force me to do his work. Which I didn't.

Also, for 13 years I always had a flexible schedule there and then they tried to adjust my sleep patterns AFTER i refused to work under this guy. They were relentless and I ended up on drugs - sleeping pills and anti-depressants for a while. The last day, I was a little out of touch. It took me a bit to get over that.

However, I've put in a fair amount of applications and none have happened. I'll admit I haven't been that aggressive.

YES! I want a Job I love, however, those seem hard to come by. I'm working with a firm that tries to do just that. :) Or at least finds a place where I work well. Speaking of which they've been silent all week, I should call them Monday.

Good luck with your search then! I`m going to call my agency on Tuesday (it`s a holiday for us tomorrow.)

Do you mind if I add you as a friend? I`ve noticed you are a good friend to Meire - and she is one of my best friends. :)

What do you do? What sort fo agency are you going too?

My name is michael I live in woodridge, IL But I don't know for how much longer. And this may be one of my last posts. I got to get my lazy ass fixing the rest of the house and selling it, there's a lot to do. :/

My name is Ollie by the way. So far, I`ve been working with an agency that supplies workers for universities, charities and NGOs. I like the places I work in, but not the jobs. I`m usually stuck doing the boring stuff. The pay is alright but I can`t see myself following a career in it...

Will go add you right now.

Hi!

Ok, very cool – NGOs Wow :) - What sort of work do they have you do? Also, what sort of job would you like and what did you go to school for? I know a lot of people that work doing something other than what they went to school for. I met someone today that went to college for Physics and is now doing construction prints for a cabinetmaker.

I found an interesting job! I posted about it. They pay is not alright with this job but the job has possibilities, it has a lot of boring aspects also but it has some very interesting possibilities too. It's actually just exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for but the company is run on a shoestring and that can be a problem at times. I suppose some pay is better than no pay :D

They usually give me clerical/secretarial work, which is not very exciting. I went to school and did English Literature and History, so I would rather get a job where I`m doing more writing, or even working alongside more creative people. Next week, I start working at the National Theatre (only for two weeks) but I`m hoping that the job will be interesting and that they'll ask me to stay on.

Good luck with your job application!
