F**king Kaiser Chiefs? Rubbish. Not ‘aving any of that nonsense, they’re just a bad Blur. I'm not having it - they wear make-up and their kecks are skintight.
- Liam Gallagher

I`ll bet you anything that an Oasis gig doesn`t have a tenth of the energy shown during a Kaiser Chiefs` gig. I`m basing this opinion on last`s nights show in the Astoria, which was packed tight, humid, smokey and filled with hands in the air and legs drumming down on the floorboards as if they wanted to blow a crater in the building.

We arrived late, when the second support band was almost done. We grabbed our beers and squeezed our way to somewhere close to the centre. When they were done (I couldn`t catch their name), I managed to find [livejournal.com profile] dawnkitten in the front, hanging on to the railings for dear life while her boyfriend fended off the randy 13 years old boys that populated the place.

When the Kaiser Chiefs came on stage, the place roused into a yell, followed by bouncing as they broke into some song that reminded me of the Toy Dolls.

What followed was a short but intense gig, with fun jumping around, beer dousings, strobe lights, tons of lyrics that mentioned tits or breasts (which the singer even acknowledged at one point), a few crowd surfers and the costumary chants for an encore. It was all over too soon.

I found Dawn again and she showed me the drumstick she managed to snag. I got lost from my friends and had to line up with the 13 year olds, who had probably experienced their first gig ever. Everyone looked happy and chilled out, which is essentially what every good gig should be about.

Ended the night on a wrong note by stopping at Paddington Station`s Burger King and ordering the biggest meal I could find - XL Double Cheese Burger Bacon. Had to lie on the couch afterwards for 2 hours and a half tryiing to digest that monster, so I watched Donnie Darko and a bit of tv to pass time.

Today, did the pool, did soup at lunch, did the library, and now I`m going to do a book - missionary position. Have a good weekend, my sweet chunky monkeys!

oh yes no, or oh yes yes?

oh yes yes. Liam says what he think will get Oasis coverage, nothing more. Even his behaviour towards the press is the same.

I couldn't eat Chunky Monkey ice cream for several years after I watched someone drink half a pint of it, melted, b/c he was so hungry. Yikes!

"Rubbish. Not ‘aving any of that nonsense" - Liam Gallagher

Ahem... Pots, kettles and the colour black anyone?

I went swimming today, for the first time in two months. Not a full session (the shoulder, obviously) but I'm pleasantly relieved that my arm hasn't subsequently dropped off. Yet.

Burger King at Paddington? Ah, you could have done your taste buds a few more favours by stopping off at Treats at Baker Street! Samosas, patties, bhajis...

We were in the tube when we decided to hit Burger Kind, and way past Baker Street. Oh well, it made sense at the time.

I went swimming today too. I love my new pool and it`s quite near, so I`ve been making use of my free time to get in as many sessions as I can before I start working again.

*grins*

I'd rather have 'bad Blur' (which they're not) than Oasis any day of the week :) - glad you had fun- and great to see you again - next time we'll do the meet up somewhere more conducive to talking

Loved the young lady throwing her bra on stage and Ricky saying 'But how did you know I like breasts ?' ;D

Was rather chuffed I managed to get my drumstick signed too

And - ooooh strange coincidence- bad food experience here as well- hunger led to buying off noodles- which has not pleased my tummy today ....

but I don't care 'cos last night was great - roll on tomorrows madness

I didn`t see the bra, but now I understand the comment. Actually, there was quite a lot of target practice, wasn`t there?

Do you think it will be the same support bands tomorrow too? I wish I had caught Duels. What was the name of the second band?

Posted by [identity profile] dawnkitten.livejournal.com
Well- it was the Carling Live thing - so saw 'Duels' again at 8 am (I got up at 5am this morning !!) at the Barfly and 'Kaisers' at the academy Islington- about 11 am.
'Duels' were ace again - and remembered me :) Kaisers were awesome as well.
The second band were called 'The Beat Up' - when we were chatting to 'Duels' after the gig they came out - but everyone ignored them - so myself and another girl took pity and went to say hi- and she got something signed - so as they wouldn't feel too crappy- though we weren't really into them.
'Duels' single soon hopefully- Tim said they're close to signing a deal soon

I didn`t like The Beat Up that much... i don`t think they`ll be around for long. Glad you had a good time!

What did you think of Donnie Darko? Another of my favorite films --- just bought the director's cut with addedfeatures & deleted scenes. Always get indigestion when I eat Burger King, but that doesn't stop me. Glad you enjoyed last night's concert. Take care...

I love Donnie Darko. It was the second time I saw the movie. How different is the director`s cut from the original? The movie as it is seems perfect so I can`t imagine what might have been added or deleted.

Burger King is evil and I probably won`t eat there again until 2006 or 2007.

You take care too.

Paddington Station, the only place in that city to be ALWAYS open. I have had so many adventures in the nearby little hotels...

this sounded great, as always, cheerfulness of spirit.

Have you scribbled your name on many bedposts? I have this image of you running through the streets of Paddington, dodging in and out of hotels.

Take care.

I haven’t heard anything about Kaiser Chief, but if you speak so well about them and Oasis talk that shit about them… SURE I’LL LIKE (I hate Oasis… sig). So I’ll try to download something ‘bout Kaiser Chief… :D

I bet Kaiser Chiefs will be playing in Barcelona too. Ask Mar if she knows of anything - she seems to know everything about live music over there!
