Friday I left work early (5pm) and sat outside the National Film Theatre with my colleagues for a pint of beer, conversations about how long I would be staying in the department (they keep me hanging on), and the 7 years of my relationship with Kevin which might one day turn into a marriage. At night, watched Big Brother and went to bed early.

Saturday, I missed Jellyfish Girl's phone call because I was at the swimming pool (first time in ages). Took myself to HMV afterwards and bought The Raveonettes' new album, plus Maximo Park and Editors. Love them all. When I heard Jellyfish Girl's voice on the answering machine, I called & called Novotel till she returned the call and we spoke on the phone with me imagining her from all the photos I've seen over the years on Livejournal - and a gasp when I heard about the seed of one boy going into the mouth of another boy; I thought it had been a silly throw away statement (like so many on Livejournal), but it was the truth. She whispered that secret into the phone.

Sunday, a walk downtown to buy two Gamecube games (Splinter Cell and Paper Mario) and for Kevin to return a stapler to Gosh Comics. On returning, we sat in Regent's Park and ate our Sainsbury's sandwiches. Somewhere in the park, we could hear music. People were taking Tango lessons. The public could join the old couples, or the Japanese lady with the stylish glasses and short hair, as they moved slowly around the crowd's circle. Families sat on picnic blankets nearby, toddlers smiled at each other. I said: "If SuperJ were here, she'd want to join the dancers." We watched them for a few minutes and, afterwards, Kevin said: "I guess we'll have to get married if we go back to Canada." I replied: "Maybe we shouldn't go back to Canada." On leaving the park, by the mosque near the western gate, three muslim boys tasted of mint chewing gum.

Back at the apartment, cleaned the bathrooms, played videogames, ate some cookies Kevin baked, ate chicken wraps, watched Big Brother and went to bed early... but couldn't sleep for hours and when I finally woke up today I felt as if I'd been tired all weekend.

Songs of the week:

really, i feel like i've reached groupie status. maybe i can start a club. kid, you're gonna be in pictures!

you can return to your regularly scheduled self esteem now. i stand by my point, but i don't point to my stand (terribly often).

Once you've reached groupie status, either you marry me and join my many wives or you go live in a deserted island to get away from my pheromones.

p.s.

Hello.
Just wanted to stop by and greet you, I am a friend of Vilhem’s and while I would like to say I just stumbled upon your page, well that would really be a downright fib. I admit I have recently become quite enraptured with reading your tales of London life. I said goodbye to England a long time ago, but remember fondly some of the places that you mention. Hope that makes me an admiring reader and not a lurker, (hmm, that just sounds sinister) .
I read you are writing a book, how's it going?
Good luck with it.

Hello there! Instead of lurking, why don't we add each other to our reading lists? :)

My book is going ok, but it's still in notepads. I don't have a computer of my own (I use my office computer for emails and Livejournal) so I'm waiting until I have a laptop to start transfering everything and doing the editing. My dad has said he'd give me his old laptop, which would be ideal, so I might get working on that book sooner than I think. Do you write as well? Are you originally from Britain?

It would be a pleasure! :)
*chuckles* Thank you for removing me from lurker status, I was beginning to feel dirty.

Your dad sounds a kind man, laptops are the best thing since sliced bread, but you have to be strict about keeping it only for work. I tried that in the beginning and now can't seem to go anywhere without my light, white baby.
No no, to say I write would be a bit of an exaggeration, ok, a lot of an exaggeration.
I would like to produce something one day that I would be willing to show other eyes, but for the moment I'll stick to playing about with pretty words here and creative writing with Vilhem and gang in SIB, which I love.

I'm originally from York, yes. But have lived (literally) all over that I have become initerant; I feel a foreigner when I go back to see my folks.
I think I read that you're originally from Brazil, right? Can I ask how long did it take for your English to become this fluent?

You sound a little like me: I was born in South Africa but I moved all over the place too. My mom is Brazilian and I spent 11 years there, but my dad is English (plus, I went to english-speaking high schools) so that's why I'm fluent in the language. Actually, I was just thinking today how little I write in Portuguese and how it would suck if I eventually lost that... I think I'm going to start reading more books in Portuguese to keep the connection fresh!

Do you plan on ever going back to York?

Guess which albums I purchased on Saturday ?
Editors, Maximo Park ...and ...Clor - oh well- nearly the same :) - plus I completed my Virgin addict card and think I'm going to get The Raveonettes album with my free tenner.
Yes - are you going to The Scala to see Editors ? - if so - I'll see you there - after I managed to miss out on tickets to see 'em in Bedford (grrrr)

Also - scarey movies - Skeleton Key - I enjoyed it muchly ...apart from the annoying chatting teenagers (Rich told them to 'Shut the fuck up!' when they were still talking loudly ten minutes into the film ...and they did - I love my bloke )

I hope I can get tickets for Editors... I just found out about this gig today. Did you like the album? All three albums are brilliant in my opinion.

What are Clor like?

Love the album- was listening to it through the NME website before it was released.

Love t'Park too :) - got tickets to see them at Hammersmith Palais in December

Good luck on the Editors tix - it's sold out - but someone was getting rid of some spares on the forum on the Editors website- may still be worth a look.

Clor are great - kinda dancey - cool lyrics - I think you can still listen to the album through the NME website if you want to check it out

I loved talking to you. It felt like we were old friends. Someday we WILL meet, dabnammit!
For now, I am content with the fact that I can picture some of the places you mention, and I have actually heard your voice.
