Random 100 Results plus Other News

The 100 Random People MeMe (or [livejournal.com profile] woolgathering's more aptly named "Festival of Friends") came to an end today.

Out of the 100 people I added, 14 added me back. Additionally, 2 people who were randomly wandering LJ Land were intrigued enough by the experiment to join my friends' list. On top of that, one of [livejournal.com profile] woolgathering's friends noticed that I was friends with her brother and sister-in-law, sparking an additional friending, and someone who had deleted me from their list back in September added me back.

As far as I know, three other LJ users took part in this experiment. I would be curious to learn their findings.

In other news, I've been in contact with the editor of a queer publication in America called "Distant Horizons" and I'm working on a short story to send to him. And my friend Henrique, whom I'm visiting for a week while in Brasil, is buying tickets for us to see Echo and the Bunnymen in Sao Paulo on the 29th of April.

Yes, I remember listening to their first album a few times at a friend's place, and I have one of their videos recorded on a tape. Then they came out with one or two more albums then disappeared. Do you know if they are still going?

I think they vanished at around about the same time that Kitchens did, in the mid/late 1990s. But now I'm relying on you to find them in Brasil, and persuade them to reform!

Not that I ask too much or anything...

I'm sure they've moved on to new projects. Didn't the chick record a song with Radiohead too?

I know that Thom Yorke sang on one of their songs, which ended up being their big hit single.

That might have been the same single that had Offside on the b-side, the song gloating that Brasil were going to beat England in the World Cup. Oh, Glenn Hoddle, looks like you're in trouble...
