Pijie's Filth & Fury

Who needs a gym workout when they've got an apartment recently vacated by two male Australians to clean? Kevin & I began our move to the new flat today -- packed suitcases dragged across London, corner shop purchases (cleaning products and 2-litre Coca-cola bottle to keep us going), and the stereo playing old tapes in the living room.

To our surprise, we found a squatter living in our flat. Her name is Pijie and she refuses to leave our shit-smeared balcony or her little egg. We've decided to allow her to stay until her egg hatches, then lift the net around the balcony, pour bleach all over the caca and turn it into a prime location for neon-lights watching.

I spent the afternoon scrubbing the kitchen. The fridge looks and smells lovely but refuses to come back to the world of the living. I'm scared. Kevin wiped the living room clean and the shelves already hold some of our books. When the place is finally clean, and all our stuff is in place, I think we'll be very happy there.

If the fridge isn't working, and it's covered by your lease, get the agent/landlord to replace it.

It was working fine until I decided to turn off the temperature button so it could defrost. I'm hoping that it will kick into gear and be nice & cool by the time we return tomorrow. But if there's something wrong with it, I'm sure the estate agents will have someone check it out.

11! From our living room we can see the commercial buildings around Liverpool Street rising to the west, and Victoria park directly to the north of us. And just below there are hundreds of gardens to peek at.

So. jealous.! It is my dream to live in a high rise apartment, but in Ireland this isn't very likely. Alan did tell me that Bono and Co. plan to build Ireland's first skyscraper in Dublin which will have their studio at the top and the rest of it will be luxury apartments. I'd be tempted to buy one if I knew the money wasn't going to support him and his crappy band!

If you could afford an apartment in his building, i'd kidnap you then would disappear in the Bahamas after Alan coughed up the dough.

Kevin doesn't like height very much so the view hasn't impressed him much. But I grew up in Brasil living in apartments (and in Singapore & Hong Kong as well) so for me it feels a little like coming home.

Bono should stick cameras in all the apartments and make a tv show out of it. We could follow the lives of the rich people in the building and, every friday, watch U2 perform a new song from the penthouse.

People are sexy here too in the summer. The top sexy city in the summer however is Montreal, hands down.

We are living in Mile End, just two stops past Liverpool Street. And yes, Pijie is a pigeon. :-)

I don't like pigeons at all! But I just feel so bad being mean to this one when all she's trying to do is hatch an egg. Once she's done her mommy business, she'll have to go find a new home with her bratty kid.

Thanks. Pijie has already laid a second egg. She's starting to piss me off (weirdly enough, when she flies off to do whatever she needs to do, another pigeon takes her place. her hubbie perhaps?) Housewarming should happen as soon as we are settled. Keep y'all posted. ;-)
