Day 5 - Esoteric

dotintheskyYesterday, while cleaning one of the guesthouse’s bedrooms, a message came through from a childhood friend: did we have a room available for one night, for him and his girlfriend?
The sun had already set when they arrived. They dropped off their bags and we went into town for a beer and a bite. They spoke of the many waterfalls they had visited on their Christmas break; I spoke of my life in the guesthouse these past five months in Brasil.
His girlfriend turned out to be into the esoteric. A self-professed sceptic, he soon tuned out of our conversation.
