What a fucking beautiful day. What a beautiful fucking day. What a beautiful day fucking. What fucking a beautiful day. Fucking what a beautiful day.

Last night, I came home to a ginger policeman standing in my building's entrance hall. I said hello; he said good evening. There were no blood spots on the walls. He was a severe living statue, like Gilbert & George.

In the tube this morning: a man stares at The Sun's page 3 girl; a woman reads Victoria Hislop's novel The Island; and a prim and proper spinster-type reads The Bible. I read a novel about lesbians. I win. Around Cannon Street, a blonde transexual wheels her suitcase into the carriage. She wears moustard shoes over black stockings. I'm not 100% sure she is a transexual.

Time to fish the sunblock out of the cupboard.

Not many can say their words have the power to remove men's clothes. :-P

Do you live in a high crime area or do you just happen to run into the police a lot?

It's a weird neighbourhood. You come out of Mile End tube and you are faced with ugly buildings and traffic. Then you walk through quiet streets, with parks, churches and middle-class families until you reach Roman Road. Walking down Roman Road, you go past teenage gangs and cars blaring loud music. Then you turn down my street and it's more cosy houses and children riding bikes... then you reach my council tower block and take an elevator, garbage strewn on its floor, up to my apartment.

At night, car sirens blare all around us; but I wonder how severe are the crimes they are called for. I imagine it's the same in most London neighbourhoods.

Suddenly I'm a bit less excited about moving to London... then I remember how bored I am of the safety of a small town where nothing ever really happens.

You get everything in London. Enjoying this city is a question of knowing how to juggle the good and the bad.

I can't stand it when people don't call M2Fs her and F2Ms him. It absolutely boggles my mind when otherwise "liberal" people, who understand that being gay is biological, can't wrap their heads around being born in the wrong body.

Aarrgh!

I would find it weird to call her a "him". She looks like a she, dresses like a she, talks like a she -- she is a she!

That's what I'm talkin' about! Who cares if she has a package or not of if she originally did!

Yes, sun-blocks at the ready and maybe start dusting off the parasol too. : D

How are you liking the book?
Alex and Kay chipped my heart a little.

Loving the book. I'm at the point where Kay buys Helen a nighty for 8 quid, and she's sharing some gin with Mickey and another girl in Mickey's boat.

Just what book are you reading? I found a copy of that short story book you rec'd for like $7! To what is this Smiths tag referring?
