Day 36 - Hummingbirds

“Come see the cat on the windowsill,” my mom called. And there she was, ready for her first jump outdoors.
Then a plaintive cry; I peaked outside and spotted the hummingbird shaking on the ground after hitting a window; the cat approaching.
By the time I rescued it from her jaws, it was dead – her first taste of hunt. I threw the corpse in the bushes.
A few hours later, another hummingbird flies through our reception. The cats watch in wonder and patience. I try to steer it outside with one hand while the other films everything for Instagram.
Success.
