I just heard Morrissey's new single "That's How People Grow Up" on BBC Radio 6 (best radio station in the world EVAH, in case you didn't know).

The song starts with a dramatic opera singer, reminiscent of Klaus Nomi (whom Morrissey loved - intentional reference?) before the song properly kicks off. It sounds like a single from his "Viva Hate", "Bona Drag" period.

I like. Then again, I can't take the blinders off when it comes to him.

Sounds great, I'll have to track it down when I get home. Did you manage get tickets to see him at the Roundhouse?

They sold out too fast. :-(

If Morrissey fans were locusts, tickets for his gigs would be beautiful green fields.

I know you are seeing Siouxsie! Don't be surprised if someone knocks you cold on the way to the gig and steals your ticket. ;-)

It's too bad Radio 6 is only digital. I'd like to hear it at home too, but it can only be done through the TV (which I don't like). But here at work, where I'm all lonesome during the week, it works as perfect company.

I shall look into a digital radio too. The two radios we have at home are:

a) an old stereo that the ex-manager of Deep Purple used for when he was painting his home, and gave to us in 2001;

b) and an old stereo that a Malaysian student bought in Egham, then gave to a friend of mine, who then passed it on to us.

As you can see, we really need to update our music listening experience!

I heard ot for the first time on Jonathan Ross on Saturday and was running around trying to figure out what it was and then googled and found out it was new. I heard it again this morning on Wogan and was gonna post about it but you beat me to it. I love it! but then again, like you, I kinda love it all.

I think you should still post about it. Just cause it's Le Moz. :-)

i heard it on Radio 2 last week but it took a couple of days to find out what it was called. Classic Morrissey. Not sure if i'd like it as much if it was by anyone else though... like you, i have blinkers

Oh, I can. But then, I didn't discover him as an impressionable teen. I really didn't like the last album. Aram prefers the era you're talking about, so perhaps he'll like this album. He's a pretty heavy Smiths-ist, though.

Unfortunately, he's not releasing an album, but a Best Of again. *rolls eyes*

That's the one shitty thing I don't agree with him; he has released, so far, over 5 Best Of albums (I think).

Bleh. Then again, according to Aram, The Smiths were more of a singles band than an album band. So it makes sense to release lots of collections for those who don't want to buy every single single. (heh)

I like too. Morrissey knows how to "grow up" gracefully...

I can't believe he's nearly 50.
