Does anyone know a good recipe for banana cake? I bought about 20 bananas for £1 and now I need to do something with them before they go bad!

Yes, I know I can Google search, but I'd rather try a recipe you know well and love. Cheers. :-)

Ooooh! Spelt is great!

Gives a dense, nutty texture, which is exactly what you want in a banana loaf…

I've only had spelt bread which was dry and horrid. Are you allergic to wheat or just a grain-o-phile?

I’m just obsessed with food!

Plus it’s supposed to be the super-grain solution to all our grain related worries, so thought I should give it a try…

Really? I'd not heard that.

Then do you like quinoa? Millet? Kashi? They're such yummy grains! And a guy I once dated, who was allergic to wheat, would use brown rice (I use super good, nutty brown rice) instead of pasta with a really good homemade sauce. Delish!

I think it's something about it being ancient and robust, so being easy to grow sustainably... Plus being high in good stuff and low in bad stuff...

Like quinoa, not used millet and never heard of Kashi! Love to use bulgar wheat and barley though...

Yeah, and if you like experimenting you should check out TVP (texturized vegetable protein) which can be used to make an amazing chili.

Kashi's an interesting grain, big like bulgar wheat.

Is that anything like Quorn?

I quite like all that kind of thing, but the b/f gets huffy unless he gets proper meat….

LOL! Well, you can occasionally use TVP instead of proper meat. I'm not a vegetarian, I like my meat, too. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Isn't quorn made out of fungus? I remember hearing about that stuff.

Yeah - that's the stuff... Actually, seem to remember it was launched in the US and the media got upset about it for some reason. It's actually rather nice!

yeah! i think people were freaking out over it being mycological in origin. for some odd reason. my boyfriend says it's salty. he lived in the UK for a while and ate the quorn chick'n patties.
