My Yearbook Photo

Wow. I was just looking through my old yearbook and I came across my photo. So many memories.

That was the year Tommy took me to the prom dance. He came to pick me up at home but my parents wouldn't let me get in the car with him. They said he smelled of whiskey and cola. So I stormed up to my room, bawling my eyes out, totally sure my prom night was ruined. I was sobbing into my pillow when I heard someone throwing stones at my window... it was Lucy!! Dear Lucy - she was my best friend all through junior and senior year. Too bad she turned out to be such a bitch in college. She was dating Tommy's best friend Clive at the time - we were always double dating and stuff. Messing around, you know? Anyhoos, Lucy whispered that Tommy and Clive were waiting around the corner, could I slide out of the window? Oh my gosh, it was so hard! But in the end I managed to climb out without alerting my parents. Off I went to the prom (where those bastard judges didn't give me and Tommy the crown for King and Queen of the night, but whatevah.)

I got really tipsy that night and then I let Tommy convince me to drink a little from his flask as we drove up to the Point (that's where anybody who was anybody in High School went with their sweetheart). Oh my gosh, we were wild that night.

Ok, so totally off topic, but [livejournal.com profile] oatmeal_texas was also in my high school and, let me tell you, she was a TOTAL SLAG. I so won't talk to her if I see her at our high school reunion. She snogged anybody who offered her a cigarette, she ran with those wannabe bad boys that were always racing up and down the main drag on their motorbikes. I think she did drugs too. I mean, look at her yearbook pics. She was so not part of the cool crowd.

I didn't even go to the prom. I kept waiting for Max, the captain of the football team, to ask me out but in the end he went with Samantha... he was so dreamy though.

My mom insisted I go anyway since, after all, I was on the committee, but I decided to go to the shooting range at the country club instead. As it turned out, I met my future husband that day after one of my bullets grazed his arm (by accident of course). Did I mention he's a doctor now?

Sometimes I wish I'd been a bit more popular in high school like you, but I guess I was a late bloomer. I still bump into Max's parents at the country club sometimes and he's been a real embarrassment to his folks. He's a drag queen in New York!

Oh, those were the days...

Those were indeed the days Thelma! I'm so happy for you that you managed to snag a doctor. Is he still cheating on you with that receptionist of his, by the way?

Between you and me, it's the pool boy AND the gardener ;)

They just can't get enough of my lemon squares, I guess...

It's a bit scary on oatmeal's post how the photos have a jagged edge sort of like they are a mask that's slipping!

it is good. i like how you went for a sock hop theme.
i'm fond of your random themes lunch break story... it seems more london.

I think it did actually. They had teddy boys and mods over here, with their slick back hair, leather jackets, baaaaaad attitude and rock'n'roll music.

I was NOT a slag! Is it my fault I was under privileged? So what if I gave "sensual massages" for a few extra bucks (or smokes) to boys from school in the baseball dugout. I'm a survivor!
