[Poll #1272796]
I've been thinking about my efforts in previous years - how I never managed to finish the damn novels, but also of how I always took them slightly too seriously ("once I'm finished, I'll re-edit this, and then I'll get published and make millions just like J.K. Rowlings.") This year I've decided to take the exercise completely lightly and just write pure nonsense for my own amusement.

I'm thinking of a mesh up between Dallas/Dynasty/Horrible People and the goth scene in London. Bitches. Studs. Fight for Power. Social Climbers. Back Stabbers. Drug Abuse. Drama. Punch Ups. Money. Love. Alliances. Betrayals. Marriages. Illegitimate Children. And, of course, a whole lot of BLACK! And I.T. support.

Although I'm a goth admirer, I know very little about the make up, the corsets, the footwear, the scene, etc.

Studs? In the real life goth scene?

Oh, you are writing fiction.

I meant Stud in the original sense of the word. ;-)

It's funny that you should mention it - I was just discussing the possibility of tackling NaNo this year. I don't have any real obligations to consider and so we might actually be able to finish it.

It's important to have a small group of friends to nag help encourage you. :D

I think so too - it makes those lonely nights easier to tackle.

I tend to come home in November and put aside only one hour of writing. Don't like it when it consumes the evening, which is why treating it lightly is the way to go I think. I need to finish it at least once!

Have any ideas on what you'll write about?

I understand how that goes. I'm also easily distracted, so it wouldn't be completely out of character to sign up and then decide that it's more important to level my EQ character to 80. >.>

I've written 75k in a month, so I know that I can do it. It's just the obligation...

But yes, not taking the whole thing too seriously is probably the key to success, lol. I have an idea that I've been sitting on for months, so this is probably a great time to wheel it out.

I think I'm going to try NaNoWriMo this year- knowing my luck it'll end up as horribly angsty chick-lit lite.

Feel free to pump me for my gothic knowledge.

Hey, horribly angsty chick-lit is what sells right now. ;-)
