Is it just me but do men -especially servicemen - seem to have become astonishingly PLAIN around the war years? The default wartime lad pictured in old newsreels, footage and especially Leave photographs, seems Plug Ugly and Stunted, poor thing.
Very interesting... but I wonder there's an explosion of homosexuals in the Western world where, according to their theory, there should be a decrease as families spread apart.
