Ginger beauty is highly underrated. I didn't know anyone ginger growing up in Brasil so it was a bit of a novelty meeting so many when I moved to England (especially through LJ). Yes, yes, "many of my closest friends are ginger," etc. I always flinch when I hear a prejudiced comment against anyone with red hair so I hope this post will go some way in changing people's perceptions of how hot ginger (guys in this case) can be.

This post is mostly dedicated to the_meanest_cat, who started a chat with me in moral_vacuum's journal about how ginger men - Mick Hucknall notwithstanding - are quite attractive.

Feel free to add more names and pictures in the comments section. Have I left anyone out other than Prince Harry? (Who I decided not to include thanks to off putting photos on Google Image).

I don't understand the anti-ginger thing in the UK. There's no "ginger=minger" in Australia! I went out with one for four years, he had long wavy ginger hair. I did notice a marked change in how many more people recognised me while I was with him, "ah, you're the girl with the red-head", which was kinda weird, but useful at the local. I should add that I didn't have red hair at the time! (it was usually very obviuosly fake variations on black, brown, or purple).

Can I add Tim Minchin to the hot gingers list? (although I thought he was blonde at first, but I'd do that with half the gingers who've listed already. Clearly my gingerdar isn't that great).

I'm not a ginger but about half of all my lovers (and that's a lot) have been. My grandmother was red red Scott. So I suppose I have some genes for it, but interestingly, I have found there are no straight red heads (in my experience). :P

I discovered a few years ago that I'm crazily teenage-like attracted to ginger men! Toby Stephens in the culprit of that. I had seen him in Jane Eyre with dark hair and make up covering his freckles. Then I saw a picture of him with his natural coloring, that glorious copper head and those freckles all over him... Oh. My. God. There are no words to express how in my dreams I want to run my fingers through that red hair and kiss every freckle. And now whenever I see a redhead man I involuntarily do the whiplash thing and the not too subtle second stare. Damian Day Lewis almost transparent lashes send my heart aflutter. Ginger men, give more of them.

i am ambiguous about gingers. they are not such a big controversy in america, not sure why the english pick on them so.

however, i'd like to add james spader to the list, but i'm not sure if he is a natural ginger or a poseur...also he's kinda not hot anymore.
