I did that the other day when I was bored at work! I found two friends that I had actually met before when I lived in Portland! They both knew my friend Misty. :) It's a small world...
Wow, that was almost as quick as AIM! Anyway, yeah, I met you thru soopahiro. I looked at your journal because I thought what you said about keeping your day job and using your free time for creative pursuits (writing) was downright GENIUS! In fact, I used my free time yesterday to write page 1 of my novel! I hope I can keep it up. :)
I have my friends to thank for my inspiration. I realized that there is no time to waste. All we leave behind us are our friends, families, and WORK. So work I will.
i must add you as a friend then! because i'm also working on a novel.
I had written about 21 chapters before I realized that i didn't care at all about my characters and had no clue about the plot... I see it as an experiment as to whether I could write something long.
Now that I know I can, I'm searching for something meaningful to myself to write about.
Soopa is a great guy and I'm sure he's going to find his passion and follow it fully.
Yeah, he is awesome. Big Rob is wonderful too. I remember correctly, they used to write comic books and illustrate them together. They made a great team. I was hoping that they would pick that up again...but it looks like it may be an end of an era. :( But if he does his acting again, that would be wonderful too! I saw yearbook pictures of him in upteen school plays.
I personally am going to try to write my novel based on events that actually happened to me from ages 14-18. I need to get a clear outline together, but luckily I have journals to base my novel off of. Someone told me when I was very young to "write what you know"...or maybe it was those Anne of Avonlea books I read, and re-read. ;)
Yes, I have known them personally for many years. My husband introduced me to them. He knew big Rob first (they used to live together) and later, little Rob moved in when they got together. Jason moved back to Texas where his family lives and where he met me, and I met them first when they came to visit. They had to "approve" me as his girlfriend, lol. Anyway, they did approve. Big Rob was Jason's best man in our wedding. Then shortly after our wedding we moved to Portland to be closer to them. They are like family to Jason, and we both wanted to get out of Texas! So we did, we lived there for three years, but then the economy went to shit and we moved to San Diego, CA about 5 months ago.
that's great! i would love to be living close to friends... but unfortunately they are all in Canada and Brazil (i'm Brazilian) so I have to content myself with only a few ones in London...
Well...I had a few before moving here. My friend Kate who I have known since high school. She is married to a Marine deployed to Iraq. Her place is actually about an hour's drive away because she lives on base. She has two kids already, so we don't have a whole lot in common now. I see her about once a month.
And the friends we have that live closer are in Ocean Beach, about 15 minutes from University City, the neighborhood I live in. James used to be married to my friend Mary and live in PDX. They divorced because he came out. He moved out here about a year ago. He lives with Robby now and they were our inspiration for moving here. They are really cool, but the drama level gets a little high sometimes.
I don't hang out with anyone I've met at work so far, and I don't know any of my neighbors. I feel like the older I get, the harder it is to make new friends. I get lonely sometimes, but I am glad I have Jason and my kitty. :)
i know exactly how you feel... i've been in London for 2 years now and I've only made 2 or 3 good friends... people in big cities, and the older we get, just don't want to make an effort.
