it seems like a big waste of time for everyone involved.
it reminds me of that Kafka short-story, "The Hunger Artist". When I read that story, I had nightmares afterwards... maybe this stunt is disturbing to me because it touches somewhere down there in my psyche.
i'm sure he will last... there's some gimmick which we are not aware of, some trick with mirrors, that allows him to get food in there... he is an illusionist, after all.
