i dunno i dunno i dunno
not feeling very well. might be the gigantic ham & cheese bap i had for lunch --> not sitting well in my stomach
might be my lack of ideas for a gift for kevin --> i sent him a text and said he shouldn't bother buying me anything.

how E.M.O.

i still don't know what emo means. nobody has fully explained it to me. i feel sometimes that i must be it, if emo means someone who can cry when listening to The Smiths by themselves in the kitchen.
but if emo means wearing tight t-shirts, and clothes worn by other people in the 70s, then i'm definetly not that.

in any case, i think those tags are shattering: emo, punk, skin, cheerleader, grunge, goth, metal, wood, plastic, it's all just junk, isn't it? let's try to be only one thing:

the motherfuckers who will bring down american republicans.

i'll push from here, making sure bliar is not reelected; you make sure dirtybush is gone by the end of 2004

I like this post a lot!...let me see if I can find you a text book definaition of emo...lol I think it's boys and girls that feel sorry for themselves, and dont' try and change who they are, it's the new goth, without the graveyards and stupid makeup.

but you are right about the lines, and trands blurring, although it pisses me off there is really nothing I can do about it, just like I said before, culture will just keep disintigrating, and breakdown and becoming one big melting pot of shit, and I will keep my style and you will keep yours, and if the kid down the street thinks it's cool to wear striped arm bnads, 7 million of those plastic beaded necklaces, a skirt with running shoes, and florescent pink tights, and a leather biker jacekt with the sleeves ripped off, I may find it horrifying but that is there style and well what can I really say about it..I am too old to make fun of them, and I have been in this too long to change the way I am, so I just have to accept it as their style and we keep on keeping on
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
hehe! you have cheered me up, Michelle... it's true, we are becoming an ultra-liberal kind of culture aren't we? Everything is becoming more tolerable.

I think that's why the conservatives have become so rabid and scary. They don't like the fact that they are the people with the least style... we'll all be making fun of them.

can I just say it's so stooopid to wear those wrist-thingys. I don't even know how to call it... i saw it in an Avril Lavigne video, so it must be dumb. I'm old, but not old enough to poke fun at people wearing dumb 80s trends. :]
Posted by [identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com
okie michelle needs to learn to proof read before posting, what a mess of bad grammer, and horrid spelling, anyway yes the wrist band trend is the stupidest thing ever.. and I hate avril! boooooo
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
LOL!!!

don't worry babe, no need to edit with me... :op

i wonder if Avril will duet with Britney so they can save each other's careers.

ah, argh, who cares anyways. I want all that pop shit to go away, RIGHT NOW.
Posted by [identity profile] 4q.livejournal.com
hahahaah I love that line..I think I may steal it, what do you think about madonna latching on to brittany and christina?

and why is casual lesbianism so popular, I mean what if it was um two fat chicks kissing, I can't really think of two fat popular singers at the moment because they are all little sticky twigs
Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
exactly... it's all for the benefit of men, really.

Maybe straight people are too bored with their lives so they need to see their "idols" play out some of their darker fantasies... of course, we'll never see the real lesbians - you know, the ones that don't shave or give a fuck about makeup... cause that wouldn't turn on any fratboy.

i'm very cynical about the pop music world. I hope they all go the same way New Kids on The Block went.

i wouldn't worry about blair, since i get the impression that most of the country isn't too pleased with him after his siding with push...

on the other hand, bush doesn't even bother serving his shit up on the nice china, and we continue to eat it. i might have to flee the country if he gets reelected.

I've started an underground railway group, to help my American friends escape. I have a couple in San Diego who want out, so if you want I'll also offer shelter for you too here in London, on your way to France!

;o)

but seriously, let's start an email campaign, mobilize everyone to go out and vote next year and get Bush out... i think he was elected because a lot of people didn't care enough to go vote (and because he stole the election...) what do you think?

on 2003-10-21 07:42 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] tikarass.livejournal.com
i think that he won because of apathy from 'liberals,' i.e. democrats, and because the republican platform lies to offers people what they think that they needs... i think that people need to not waste votes on the next nader and find a solid democrat candidate who has a chance.

we also have to destroy the electoral college. but that's another thing. if we tried to do that we might be called 'terrorists,'... we probably would.

you are probably a traitor right now, just for sharing those thoughts with me. I hope there's no F.B.I. person reading our exchange and planning to break into your house tonight!

i was just reading about the Republicans trying to change the Law regarding Martial Law... you know, keeping tanks stationned across America, make sure everyone is behaving. That worries me... it worries me how much they are lying and how they don't give a fuck.

you forgot to mention fuckhead goths...uuuggghhhhh....

I don't follow any styles...I have always been my own style. Right now, my style is not having any style!!!

Works for me!

Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
i did mention goths! i didn't want to call anyone fuckheads... because that's an adjective reserved for the Right in America.

having no style is my style too... but i'm scared of how well I've perfected it... and how easy it could be for me to just disappear off the planet one of these days.

on 2003-10-21 07:47 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] dilvalicious.livejournal.com
did you mention goths???

(and i was only kidding about the fuckhead part...although they do tend to annoy me...the genre as a whole, not certain individuals)

and yeah....I feel that I will disappear one day as well, but even when I dress "normal" there is still a bit of my quirkiness that shines through...I am sure you have a spark that people sense...so don't worry about disappearing

if i have a stalker than I must be doing something right! :o)

i guess i can be quirky sometimes... it's usually after too many coffees or beers.

i just wish we could break free from this sort of materialist, repetitive life that seems to have fallen on our heads. I want to be free to live anywhere in the world if I wish, regardless of visas. I want to wear a skirt in the summer because I'll be better ventilated. I want to dye my hair all mad colours and listen to good country music... i want to go mad, basically, but I don't feel like I can handle other people's reactions.

emo is supposed to be short for emotional. so we are all emo, from the moment on we're humans. it doesn't mean anything.

i guess it also paints that moment when you feel like sitting on your windowpane and watching the rainfall, with a sad music in the background, your head feeling as heavy as your heart. It's a lets-listen-to-with-or-without-you-for-the-tenth-time-in-a-row. Let's puke.

Emo is essential "emotional" or "whine rock" as I like to call it. It's white boys singing about lost or unrequited love, or hate, or pain, or pleasure, or something to that effect. It's pretty much a romantic/punk hybrid in my opinion.

Not totally my favorite genre, but there is some good stuff out there.

And regarding labels, I think I gave a good reply to that bit in your next post.

BTW, I got your CD, I'm waiting for [livejournal.com profile] stinkacon to bring it to work, since I used her address and am no longer living there. I'm going to finish and send yours out today, if time permits.

phew... i'm glad it arrived. I was starting to wonder if they would all be lost in the mail.

Does Morrissey fall under Emo? Cause i find him ironic/sentimental... and not whiny at all.

on 2003-10-24 04:39 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] soopahiro.livejournal.com
Well, Morrissey would more be like the Elder Statesman or Father of Emo-type rock. Like, the early stuff, not the newly diluted crap that gets released now.
