"In a society that believes in nothing, people who believe in anything can appear to have great power. But this says more about how isolated and atomized we have become rather than reflect their true power."

It was a brilliant documentary. I learned a lot from it. I never knew, for example, that Republicans were originally against Religion and the State coming together. They showed Republican rallies with speakers defending the rights of women to have abortions! But, once they made alliances with the religious right everything changed.

What can I say? I didn't vote for him-

But I check that site everyday for the news they don't broadcast out here- it's more and more like a dictatorship in the states. That was a great article. I'll be in hiding 'till '08....

I would like to know how many Americans who were able to vote didn't bother...

Posted by [identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com
Well normally only 30% of the actual country votes, but this time it was a whopping 50%. But there's been talks of hacked voting machines, how Kerry was supposed to have won, tampered ballots, blah blah blah-

I will not have faith in this country until all the Bushes and their crummy Administration are out of office- then I'll come out from under my blankets- haha

Posted by [identity profile] commonpeople.livejournal.com
Your country needs to sort out its voting system. Even Brazil, supposedly so backwards, has a system that is working. We have moved from the written ballots to electronic ballots, and all political parties have independent supervisors making sure there is no tampering with them.

But, that'll be the day-

Is there no way that the government can stop each state from independently setting up its own voting system?

on 2004-11-10 02:12 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] vilia64.livejournal.com
I don't think so. My government's too cheap to spend money on making sure that all the voting is done within set guidelines. They'd rather not spend money to ensure an honest election when they can spend billions and kill my countrymen and people in foreign lands- where's the fun in that?

I have a friend in Sacramento who works for Calpirg, this organization that lobbies for environmental issues. Maybe the solution would be for people to spread the word, to get more proactive. Your country has four years to prepare itself for the next election.

We'd better get started then-

But the road is rife with bible-thumping, backwoods, war-mongering, money funneling, women and minority opressing, cheating, theiving, creepy. white Republicans.......

Haha- I was going to, but wasn't sure if the government was monitoring emails- haha

you can be president of the states with only 27% of the votes, thats anti-democratic

What's worse are the thousands who chose not to vote and participate in the political process.
