Brandy was the only survivor. I can't believe I watched that thing till the end. I can only find some comfort in the fact that the characters suffered because they didn't know the capital of Brasil.

hahahahahahahahaha.
hehe..indeed!!!!!

most people abroad only know Brazil because of its carnaval, football and sandy beaches.

we also have pollution, corrupt politicians, violence in the streets, bad salaries.

but we don't live in trees, snakes don't crawl inside our homes, almost everyone has a computer, cel phones, colour tvs and dvds.....most people are really honest and hard working, most people fight for non-violence and justice... we speak portuguese and brasilian food is divine!!!!!

:)

hehehehe

but the thong was invented there, and the girls (that I've seen) have my favorite ratio of leg-length to torso-length. mmmm.....

Oh my god, that happens a lot to me too! Apparently people from Portugal should just speak Spanish since it's right next to us!!!!!

Um, no.

Some people just don't get it; Portugal is not in Spain!! Error ratio of, approximately, 9062.454393888105. LOL

They never came to Brasil, but to some obscure Caribbean island. They thought the capital was Rio!

That's correct. If you were in the movie, you would have been the killer or the strange old black man who practiced voodoo and tried to save those stupid teenage asses.

heh...oh well, already made it. problem is, it won't let me upload anything! this is getting annoying!

Josh has said he wants to figure out how to set up his website to use it for pics, so maybe this weekend I'll be able to put some pics up.

you sure it ain't working? works fine for me. Maybe you are trying to upload a picture that's too large?

on 2005-04-03 06:30 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] desayuno-ingles.livejournal.com
no, it says it will automatically resize any that are too large. it might be my connection...

speaking of, I have to go away from the puter. the socket it's plugged into is no longer working and I can't be on it or it will drain the battery. so I'm heading out to a friend's house.

ciao!

I remember seeing that! And I had an argument with my aunt about the fact that they got the capital wrong, but she was adamant that it must be right since the movie said so! Pfffft.

The film was rubbish, especially the ending omg.

that's IG'NANT!

i put a play back on the shelf because one character, Najinksy, was supposed to be Polish and was stereotyped as a womanizing alcoholic...what really irked me was that if you're going to make the Pole be the bad guy (again and again), then at least use a name that's accurate. what the hell nationality is Najinsky??

i thought that globalization was supposed to be fixing this "hey, we don't know shit about your culture but we're still going to perpetuate falsehoods and display our ignorance" problem. *smirk*

The problem is with lazy script writers. In the movie, the characters eventually discover that Brasilia is the capital of Brasil, but it got me thinking: "how come 4 college students, and their families, thought Rio was the capital of Brasil? Shouldn't at least one of them know that was wrong?"

Whatever. They deserved to die.

Posted by [identity profile] i-am-scowling.livejournal.com
haha, you would think that...

but the vast word of ignorance about basic facts is greater than you or me, ollie face!

on 2005-04-04 01:55 pm (UTC)

True. And I don't know the capital of most African countries for example, so maybe I deserve to die too.

Even I know the capital of Brasil. It's Santiago, right?

Have you seen "Stigmata"? They came to Brasil and everyone spoke Spanish here.

When I went to Barcelona, I tried to speak in Spanish but everyone seemed to reply in English with a Spanish accent.

I am therefore convinced that Spanish is merely accented English, and Portuguese is Spanish spoken with an English accent.

Perhaps I should get out more. Or not watch so many films...
