London Fog
Oct. 13th, 2006 09:03 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
A thick white fog (smog?) has descended upon London. We can't see anything from our windows (I took the day off and I'm at home).
You know what? I can't even see Canary Wharf's flashing skyscrapper lights. I can hear sirens though.
Edit: Argh! Could the fog have something to do with today being Friday 13th?

on 2006-10-13 10:01 am (UTC)I had no idea there were separate weather forecasts for Bow and Walthamstow (although they look pretty similar...)

on 2006-10-13 03:10 pm (UTC)Are you superstitious for Friday the 13th? I don't take any notice, but in Hk I adopted the fear of the 4th of April : /
Hope you're having a snuggly day off. Mmmmm Hot chocolate!

on 2006-10-13 06:44 pm (UTC)Why the 4th of April? Is that HK's day of the dead?

on 2006-10-14 12:02 am (UTC)Do you remember how superstitious the Chinese are about the number four as it rhymes with death. When 04/04/04 (death death death) came around we all got the day off work. : D
I went by the cupcake cafe today and they had 'Friday the 13th' iced in black on the cupcakes. I gobbled up some superstition with glee.

on 2006-10-14 03:23 pm (UTC)Just a pair of gym shorts, which I already put into action this morning.
I didn't remember their superstition about the number four, though I do know they adore number 8. My dad is considered very "auspicious" by some of his friends because his birthday, 08/08, was once on 08/08/88. My mom was given the chance to number our farm when they "inaugurated" the road leading to it (named after my great-grandfather). And guess what number she gave it? 888. :-)

on 2006-10-17 04:01 am (UTC)Actually number four in chinese (shi) has the same pronunciation as death. That's why they still avoid it so much.
