Day 20 - Darkness

Maitacas are beautiful pests that resemble parrots. They fly into roofs and chew through cables, until there’s a short-circuit that leaves homes in darkness.

My great-uncle used to set off firecrackers to scare them away. But he’s now gone and nobody can be bothered with the noise.

Candle in our kitchen, calls for electricians. The latest they can come is tomorrow. Always tomorrow.

My brother sweeps away Maitaca eggs from the attic and finds cables from a bygone era, no longer in use. He suggests we pull everything out and clear the space.

I thank him for dealing with this.

I googled maitaca as I was not familiar; and realise I recognise the bird from my visits to South Asia ages ago... I think they call it ‘tia’.

Hope the power situation solves soon. Candles can be rather magical, but perhaps not when you’re forced to it.

Thank you, the electricians showed up! Was a smooth job and we now have less detritus lying around in the attic. :)

Tia means "aunt" here. Which is strangely fitting to them actually!

You have CREATURES I didn't even know existed!

Oh Rattler, there are so many creatures here. :)

And this town is known for its werewolves!

I googled and they are very, very pretty... but yes, that is super annoying. I hope you managed to get someone to come and fix your wiring!

Yes, all good! Electrician came and we are good :)
