Day 20 - Darkness

Maitacas are beautiful pests that resemble parrots. They fly into roofs and chew through cables, until there’s a short-circuit that leaves homes in darkness.
My great-uncle used to set off firecrackers to scare them away. But he’s now gone and nobody can be bothered with the noise.
Candle in our kitchen, calls for electricians. The latest they can come is tomorrow. Always tomorrow.
My brother sweeps away Maitaca eggs from the attic and finds cables from a bygone era, no longer in use. He suggests we pull everything out and clear the space.
I thank him for dealing with this.
