My nephews are now 23, 21, 20 and 12. I've never sent them a card, bought them a present, and in fact have barely seen or spoken to them in years, despite being close to their monther (my eldest sister). Jo's niece (technically my nioce too, I suppose) I've seen once since birth, and she's now three and a half.

But yes, it is a joy to have nieces and nephews--my little heart just goes, 'Awwwww' whenever one of those brats calls me, 'Auntie Tara'--I just melt. Wait, did I just say that? We never had this conversation.
